Omnizone vs Odoo
Odoo wins when you want a large open-source app catalogue and a partner to assemble it. Omnizone wins when one company builds, implements, and supports the books.
Odoo is the most deployed alternative we hear in this market: a broad suite of apps you can grow into, usually with an implementing partner. That breadth is a real advantage when manufacturing, website, or niche apps sit beside accounting.
Our line is narrower on purpose. Omnizone is one product with multi-currency in the core ledger — not an accounting add-on beside other apps — and one company (Pixel38) that builds, implements, and supports it. If you need the Odoo app store more than accountable books, stay on Odoo.
Choose Odoo if
- Manufacturing, MRP, or a large catalogue of Odoo apps is the centre of the project — not just finance and HR.
- You already have (or want) an Odoo partner to customise modules and you are comfortable owning that stack long term.
- Open-source licensing and community apps matter more to you than a single vendor accountable for the whole workspace.
Choose Omnizone if
- You want one vendor that builds, implements, and supports the finance workspace — no hand-off between ISV and partner for the core ledger.
- Multi-currency documents and LCY journals are first-class in the product you demo, not an optional accounting app you assemble later.
- You need receivables, payables, and payroll posting into the same chart without stitching community modules.
Side by side
| Topic | Odoo | Omnizone |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery model | Apps + partner implementation; community and enterprise editions | One product, one vendor builds and supports |
| Multi-currency ledger | Available in Accounting; strength depends on edition and setup | Core: document currency + authoritative LCY on posted work |
| Manufacturing | Dedicated Manufacturing / MRP apps — deeper than Omnizone today | Not a manufacturing MES — concede until P7 |
| HR & payroll | HR apps vary by localisation and partner pack | Employees, pay runs, and leave in the same workspace as the books |
| NAV / BC migration | Generic import / partner migration projects | Working NAV company importer for full company history |
| Accountability | Split across Odoo S.A., apps, and your partner | Pixel38 owns the product you run |
Where we also concede
- Manufacturing depth (BOM, shop floor, MRP) is not Omnizone’s job yet — stay on a manufacturing-first ERP until epic P7 closes.
- Field / mobile route ops and POS stay thinner until P9 / P10 ship; do not pick Omnizone for van-first or storefront-first rollouts today.
- Multi-entity group consolidation across functional currencies with a parent dictating the chart of accounts belongs on a larger platform (Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite) — say so in the sales call.
